Colin Kaepernick Says Jay-Z Became NFL’s “Black Face”

The NFL’s partnership with Roc Nation is back under fire after Colin Kaepernick directly connected Jay-Z to conversations league owners were having about how to respond to protests against racial injustice. Kaepernick argues that the Hip Hop mogul eventually became the prominent Black figure some owners wanted positioned alongside the league while the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback remained unsigned. During a September 16 interview with MeidasTouch co-founder Ben Meiselas, Kaepernick said he believes the arrangement can be traced to a private 2017 meeting between NFL players, team owners and league officials.
