Bun B Thanks Drake For Sending Money & Fans Back His Way

Bun B credited Drake with bringing fresh money and listeners to “Get Throwed” after the Houston classic landed inside “Solar Eclipse.” The UGK veteran described two payoffs in a new Rolling Stone interview: income from the sample and a rise in streams for his own recording as fans went looking for the source. “Not only is there revenue from having your song attached to a Drake song, but also, people rediscover the original record,” Bun B said. Drake and Don Toliver reworked Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” for their collaboration, drawing on the bass line from “Get Throwed.” Drake had already sampled Bun B’s song on “N 2 Deep” in 2021, so the new placement extended a connection between their catalogs.
